using a two-way glue pen
With this technique, you can easily add gold leaf to any of your projects.
In this demo, we used a two way glue pen by Zig.
Any glue pen works as long as it remains tacky once it dries.
All our gold leaf in 100% metal. No fillers!! You can use them in your scrapbooks. Treat them just like you do any other metal embellishment.

Choose your glue pen. For writing, use a fine ball point tip. For drawing or coloring in areas, you can use a broader tip. Apply glue to your project. Don't forget you can use this technique with your lettering stencils!! Another fun project is to stamp on ceramic tiles with a permanent ink - color in open areas with your glue pen. This also works on leather and fingernails!!
Allow glue to dry. The Zig pens will go on blue and turn clear once they are dry. If you don't wait until the glue dries, you will smear it. Press gold leaf firmly onto your project using your fingers. In this demo we used the Bling Bling Original Red and the Medium Stiff Brush. In the pictures below we used Bling Bling Coral Reef.
Going against the bristles of the brush, scrape off excess gold leaf. We like to work in an open container so we have virtuously no waste. The scrapings get smaller and smaller as we work them until they eventually look like glitter. Because it is metal, the glitter is unbelievably sparkley!!
As a finishing touch, buff your project with a soft cloth. We like to use the top of a sock that lost its mate in the dryer or a Swifter duster. Buffing brings out an incredible metallic shine you just can't get with embossing powders.
Done!
If adding gold leaf to ceramic tile, leather, or anything that will be exposed to the elements or heavily handled, we do recommend sealing your project.
And, don't forget --- you can use your glue pen to 'draw' inside your lettering templates so you can gold leaf your scrapbook page titles!
